Our current projects
The Büttner-Janz Spinefoundation started a large project by providing expert support to medical students of the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, preparing their doctoral theses. International study results from scientific evaluations and research on the human spine were brought together in an online Meta-analyses-DataBase which was created by the Büttner-Janz Spinefoundation to receive top-results by meta-analyses about spine related issues on biomechanics, diagnostic procedures, conservative and surgical treatments. The first scientific work based on the results of the Meta-analyses-DataBase is published in the Journal of Advanced Research (Impact Factor 6.992). The Charité doctoral student, supervised by the founder of the Spinefoundation, intends to use this publication and other documents to acquire the title Dr. med.: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2090123220301260
A planned funding project involves providing support for a broadly based questionnaire on the prevalence of spinal problems and associated circumstances. Back pain can seriously affect people's quality of life, their ability to work, and their scope for participating in social relationships. We want to find out why that is, and what measures might offer the most promising hope of a solution. We also want to use the questionnaire to explore the extent to which treatments for spinal problems actually lead to a better quality of life. From the perspective of health promotion, we are further interested in the effectiveness of preventive measures.
A completed funding project involved the German sports aid foundation "Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe". The target was to support Germany's competitive sports by learning more about the spines of high-performance athletes. A publication about the survey results was published by the European Spine Journal. Basic results are presented here. The publication is here: http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs00586-015-4210-9 The final result of the doctoral thesis presented by Saskia Sarah Schulz - a former medical student of the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin - is magna cum laude.
